Silly me, I’d written that last post as Senshi Style #24…it’s actually #23. Oops! I’ve corrected it now. (Yesterday was a long day…)
HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Usagi and Chibiusa! I hope everyone’s having lots of cake and sweets in their honor!
It’s summer! Hang out on the beach in true senshi style with bow bandeaus! I’ve seen a couple of them in different colors and styles on Etsy (including one-piece suits), so that’d be a place to look in my opinion. Or just make your own! Here’s a nice tutorial.
You could also go the extra mile with a skirt bottom, and even match the colors to your favorite senshi!
Senshi Style #24: Luna
I’m not sure how I did all these sets without ignoring my favorite anime cat, Luna! Perhaps I was a bit challenged by it, but lo and behold, I have accepted it and I’d like to think I’ve succeeded.
For Luna, I paid attention to the fact that she is a cat, and cats are often fun and playful. The centerpiece is a whimsical, all-too-appropriate tee by Wildfox (available here), paired with a breezy skater skirt, perfect for summer. It’s also hard to go wrong with a simple pair of black flats—they work with almost anything, as far as I’m concerned. Add a few Luna-inspired accessories, such as a sweet yellow ribbon. Wear one as a belt (such as the one I added, by Ted Baker), or as a hairbow, or tie one around your neck like Luna in the Sailor Moon S movie, if you want. You could also put pretty black roses in your hair, much like the hair ornaments worn by Luna in her human form. The necklace by Jennifer Zeuner is almost too appropriate, like the T-shirt (and I can’t help but think I’ve included it in a previous set). A cute purse completes the ensemble.

I know, and I apologize. I know this used to be a lot more regular than it is. I’m not going to make any excuses as to why I haven’t been updating as much. I do think I might need a few more people to help me run this, but in the meantime I’ll come up with something. Again, I apologize :(
Check out this photo of Estonian singer Kerli (from her Twitter) with some serious odango she wore to a CoverGirl party celebrating Australian electronic band/CG spokesmodels Nervo. I tried to do the odango thing yesterday and it did not work out well, so now that I see Kerli wearing it perfectly…sigh.
Little Mix singer Perrie Edwards steps out after a tour wrap party in London, dripping in jewels and black velvet, and some seriously insane heels. I’m sure Kaolinite approves.
Vanessa Hudgens in Paper Magazine with some seriously fantastic Chibiusa buns…
anyone have an unwatermarked version of this?
Senshi Style #23: Naru Osaka
Okay, she’s not a senshi, but I felt the need to make a new set. I’m finding it kind of difficult to make some wintery and even spring-y sets for some of my leftover villains, so I thought I’d do a recreation for a change, rather than a reinterpretation of an outfit.
For this set, I picked an outfit worn by Naru. I don’t remember which episode exactly (ooh, Alex, you’re such a bad fan), but I love this outfit. I love the colors of it. And I also love Naru’s signature hairbow.
Sweater: Burberry, $115
Skirt: chicwish.com, $45
Tights: Forever 21, $5.50
Shoes: Yves Saint Laurent, $855
Bow: American Apparel, $15
Moonspiration’s 2013 Grammy Roundup
The Grammys are more of an annual fashion playground than an actual music awards show, so what better time for stars (especially those of the musical persuasion) to show off quirky fashion? This year’s red carpet was a breeding ground for intergalactic heroes and monsters-of-the-day alike. Well, at least to those who are looking carefully enough for them (ie. me, with too much time on my hands).
Rapper 2 Chainz shocked in a Tuxedo Mask-style cape, but Florence + The Machine’s Florence Welch and Gotye collaborator Kimbra could pass for Monsters-of-the-Day. Alicia Keys straps into a black Sailor Starlight-esque bondage number, while Carly Rae Jepsen channels Mistress 9 after a much-needed haircut.
Who do you think stole the show last night?
Who’s wearing who? Fashion credits are in the captions.
